the screen but how does this all work well it starts with the screen before you even think of removing the physical buttons on the side of a smartphone the

screen first needs to extend way past the front plane of the phone and vivo achieved this by using an ultra curved edge Paola display panel with a curvature 88

degrees which they have dubbed the waterfall full view display and now that the phone has that in comes vivas touch Sense technology which acts as the button input it's

a matter of using a combination of pressure sensors and multiple sensor algorithms but can detect a physical press on the specified parts of the display but it's not as

simple as just having the sensors they need to be true and finally such that it only accepts the ideal amount of pressure from your fingers such that you exert

almost the same amount of force as when you would press a physical button and to complete the picture the phone also utilizes an x-axis haptic vibration motor as soon

as the pressure sensors register a button press the user also feels tangible tactile feedback so that they know the button has actually been pressed furthermore the haptic vibration motor

isn't just for the virtual buttons it's also a great additional dimension of sense when you're typing on the phone's keyboard and playing games since the vibration feels pretty accurate

but to wrap this up we do realize that curved screens are not for everybody but when you put them into this context with a cool innovation like virtual buttons
